Melania Trump says she supports abortion rights, putting her at odds with the GOP
‘A woman’s fundamental right of individual liberty, to her own life, grants her the authority to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes.’

Trump has long tried to steer clear from supporting national restrictions that could be a political disaster for Republicans struggling to win back key groups — especially suburban women — who turned their backs on the GOP in recent years.
Trump again took credit for the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to end Roe v. Wade, saying that he was ‘proudly the person responsible for the ending’ of the constitutional right to an abortion and thanking the conservative justices who overturned it by name.
‘We don’t want any women to sit there and deal with a rare situation and have to deliver a baby in that sort of circumstance, any more than we want women getting an abortion at 37, 38, 39 week.’
‘I am unapologetically pro-life, not because the Republican Party tells me, but because my husband was adopted, and I live with that blessing every day.’
Polling suggests about two-thirds of Americans believe abortion should generally be legal, and Trump has said in recent years that he supports exceptions to abortion bans when a pregnancy was caused by rape or incest or threatens the life of the mother.
