The Republican National Committee has launched a coordinated “election integrity” initiative that involves the recruitment of thousands of lawyers, polling-place monitors and poll workers.
The defendants consist of 11 Republicans who submitted a document falsely claiming Trump won Arizona, two former Trump aides and five lawyers connected to the former president, including Rudy Giuliani.
And it’s not clear what comes next.
Prosecutors said he had been posting on X ‘in an effort to intimidate codefendants and witnesses.’
‘All four of those people that did their proffers stood in front of you, they did their plea, it was all recorded, it was sent out there for the world to see.’
‘I believe the trial will take many months. And I don’t expect that we will conclude until the winter or the very early part of 2025.’
‘We take security very seriously. We’re taking responsible steps to keep our elections secure.’
‘What I did not do but should have done, Your Honor, was to make sure that the facts the other lawyers alleged to be true were in fact true.’
‘In terms of immediate things that might shake out of it, I think it’s a question of what the people next down in the pecking order might do in order to free up the DA’s office a little bit more.’
There will undoubtedly be ‘a lot of pretrial skirmishing.’
