U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace strongly hinted she will announce a run for South Carolina Governor imminently.
“Big things ahead. Are you ready?” she posted on X, alongside a graphic that said a “Special Announcement” would be “coming soon.”
That hit social media the morning after the Charleston Republican told Fox News Weekend she would make a decision whether to run for Governor within days.
“I will be making a decision in the next couple days about my future,” she said. “I believe I may be forced to run for Governor because I can’t watch my beautiful red state of South Carolina go woke. It’s gone woke over the last couple of years.”
She also fired a shot at South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who launched his campaign for Governor last month.
“This is a two-man race, if I get in, between me and Alan Wilson, the South Carolina Attorney General, who likes to put pedophiles on trial and give them one day in jail served,” Mace said. “I don’t believe the people of South Carolina will go for that.”
Mace was referring to reports of several individuals convicted of sex crimes against children who were sentenced to single-day jail terms.
Mace said “we’ll be making that decision about my future in the next couple of days and we’re excited about it.”
Mace’s tease of a special announcement included a picture of herself with President Donald Trump, though Wilson has similarly campaigned with pictures of himself and the Commander-in-Chief.
Importantly, U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman, a Rock Hill Republican, also announced his campaign for Governor. Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette is also running.
That means both South Carolina’s 1st and 5th Congressional Districts will have open seats in 2026, presuming both Mace and Norman stay in the race. Both districts lean heavily Republican. Mace in November won reelection with more than 58% of the vote, while Norman won his district with almost 64%.
