Katherine Robertson has announced she will be running for Alabama Attorney General. Robertson, who is chief counsel to Alabama’s current Attorney General, Steve Marshall, launched her campaign Tuesday night in Birmingham.
During her announcement speech, Robertson told supporters that Alabama needs a proven fighter who will use the power of the Attorney General’s Office to protect Alabama’s communities and uphold its values, according to Fox 54.
“I believe the first civil right of every Alabamian is to live free from the fear of violence,” Robertson said. “As Attorney General, I will ensure violent offenders, including those in our country illegally, do not roam freely, and law enforcement will always know I have their back.”
Robertson’s campaign priorities include passing tougher laws on crime, gangs, child exploitation and illegal immigration, as well as opposing the “fanatical Left.”
“On my watch, the whims of the fanatical Left will never make inroads in Alabama,” Robertson said. “The woke mob won’t be able to tell us a boy can play girls sports, and we will continue to ensure that George Soros never gains a foothold in our criminal justice system.”
“You heard AG Marshall say that I am the law enforcement candidate in this race, and I am. This is their race, and they know that I’m their girl,” Robertson added. “I’m running because Alabama needs a strong, steadfast Attorney General who knows how to get things done. My record speaks for itself, and I’m ready to do the next right thing — decisively.”
Marshall, who has now served two terms as AG and has reached his term limits, has announced he is running to potentially replace U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville as Tuberville vacates his Senate seat to run for Alabama Governor.
Robertson also received an endorsement from former Sylacauga Chief of Police Chris Carden, who sent an email to supporters saying this is the first time he has ever publicly endorsed someone, and he wouldn’t have done it if he didn’t believe in it wholeheartedly, according to Yellowhammer News.
“She’s not just a lawyer, she’s someone who truly understands the demands of our profession and has spent nearly a decade standing in the gap on our behalf in Alabama,” Carden wrote. “I’ve seen firsthand just how tough she is, holding her ground in the State House with lobbyists and legislators, never backing down from a fight when it comes to protecting and standing up for Alabama law enforcement.”
