JD Vance to hit North Carolina on Friday campaign stop; Donald Trump, Kamala Harris to follow this weekend

Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance will close out the week with yet another campaign appearance in North Carolina, with a rally scheduled in the town of Selma. southeast of Raleigh.

Vance was in High Point for a Turning Point USA event on Thursday morning. Both his running mate, former President Donald Trump. and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris held rallies in the state on Wednesday.

Both are already scheduled to return before the week is out, pushing hard for North Carolina’s 16 electoral votes. Trump will hold rallies in Greensboro and Gastonia on Saturday, while Harris is going to Charlotte the same day.

Vance’s Selma rally is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Nov.1 at the Farm at 95, a wedding, banquet and concert venue about 45 minutes from Raleigh. Among other topics, he is expected to hammer Harris and the Biden administration on their economic record, including inflation, which has settled down the past several months.

“Since Harris took office, prices have surged 21.8 percent, costing North Carolina families an extra $1,000 each month,” the Trump-Vance campaign said in a statement announcing Vance’s latest rally. “The average Tar Heel household has already lost nearly $28,000 to inflation, spending an additional $3,210 on food alone since January 2021.”

Vance will also likely continue Trump’s harangue of undocumented migrants under Harris and President Joe Biden. North Carolina is home to a large population of Hispanic immigrants employed in agriculture, construction, commercial fishing and other industries.

“Illegal immigration costs North Carolina taxpayers $3.14 billion annually adding nearly $800 in extra expenses per household,” the Trump-Vance campaign said. “According to 2023 data, illegal immigration has placed 122,218 students in local schools, costing taxpayers $1.47 billion in education alone and $461.1 million for police, legal, and corrections.”

There were more than 915,000 immigrants living in North Carolina in 2020 contributing nearly $10 billion in taxes, according to the American Immigration Council. Of those, about 314,000 are undocumented, earning a total $8.4 billion a year and contributing $1.8 billion in taxes.

“Kamala Harris’ policies are failing North Carolina residents,” the campaign continued. “President Trump is committed to putting money back in their pockets and protecting their futures. Kamala Harris broke North Carolina’s economy, but President Trump will fix it.”
