DoorDash taps former Florida GOP staffer for government affairs in the Southeast

DoorDash has hired Jake Holmgreen, former Communications Director for Florida GOP Chair Evan Power, to serve as Senior Associate of Government Relations for the U.S. Southeast.

In his new role, Holmgreen will lead legislative and other government priorities for DoorDash.

“Jake has been an integral part of Florida GOP’s successes during my tenure as Chairman. He is a prolific problem solver, charismatic operator and an effective campaigner,” Power said. “We at the Party are sad to see him go but have no doubt he will succeed in his new endeavor.”

In addition to his work with the Florida GOP, Holmgreen also worked on President Donald Trump’s 2020 and 2024 campaigns, and on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ 2022 re-election campaign. He also previously served as Deputy Legislative Affairs Director under Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation Secretary Melanie Griffin, and as Legislative Affairs Director for former Florida Department of Management Services Secretary Pedro Allende.

Holmgreen was recognized as a rising star in Florida politics in the Spring 2025 edition of INFLUENCE Magazine, a product of Southeast Politics’ parent publication, Florida Politics.

The honor recognized the emerging young political professional for his years of service dating back to high school, when he served as an intern for U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, and later in college, as the Campaign Manager for former South Carolina state Rep. Paula Rawl Calhoon’s first election. Holmgreen has also worked for a historic preservation nonprofit in Washington, D.C.

Holmgreen told INFLUENCE Magazine last year that he had never intended to work in politics, but it was his work as a server at a family-owned restaurant that got him involved. That’s where he met Calhoon, who was a relative of the restaurant’s owner.

He helped her win, and as the magazine noted, the win was addictive, leading to what is becoming a vastly successful career in politics and government relations.
