Despite being a target of national Democrats, U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles raised around $53,000 in the second financial quarter. Now the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is taunting the Maury County Republican, asking whether he intends to run at all.
In an email blast that noted $50,000 is just enough to pay the average price of a new car after tariffs, the DCCC teased the incumbent over his numbers.
“Does Andy Ogles know he’s running?” wondered DCCC spokesperson Madison Andrus in a statement.
The DCCC has listed Ogles’ seat among GOP “Districts in Play” this cycle.
The second quarter fundraising still represents the bulk of all donations by the Tennessee incumbent. His total contributions through the election cycle are now greater than $95,000.
By comparison, U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a Florida Republican targeted by the DCCC, has raised more than $1.2 million to defend her seat and U.S. Rep. Cory Mills, another targeted Florida Republican, has raised more than $537,000.
Of note, Ogles’ financial disclosures show he has a net worth of $1.09 million, according to Quiver Quantitative.
Ogles won election in 2022 and was re-elected to a second term in November, defeating Democrat Maryam Abolfazli with 57% of the vote.
But after the second quarter in that election, he had reported more than $669,000 in fundraising.
Meanwhile, Ogles remains under investigation by the FBI over discrepancies in his campaign finance filings from his 2022 race.
At the same time, no major Democratic opposition has emerged against Ogles in terms of fundraising. Democrat Jim Torino has raised just over $7,700 for the race, including $3,000 in the second quarter.
