David Clark joins growing list of Republican Lieutenant Governor hopefuls

State. Rep. David Clark will run for Lt. Governor, he announced Tuesday.

Clark represents Georgia House District 100. The Gwinnett County Republican and military veteran was first elected to the Georgia House in 2015 after winning the 98th District when he was just 29 years old. His House service included seats on the Welfare Fraud Study Committee and Interstate Cooperation Committee.

Clark said he won’t stand aside and let Georgia be “sold out.”

“I didn’t fight for this country overseas to come home and watch Georgia be sold out to foreign adversaries and radical politicians,” Clark’s campaign website reads. “As Lieutenant Governor, I’ll fight every day to protect our families, our freedoms, and the values that make Georgia home.”

Clark further pledged in a campaign video to be a “warrior” for Georgians, noting he is someone who will prioritize conservative values and freedom.

“In a world on fire, America doesn’t need more politicians,” he said.

As a lawmaker, Clark introduced legislation he described as protecting unborn babies, defending the Second Amendment, and ensuring religious freedom.

“I fought to defend our nation’s freedom overseas,” Clark said. “Now, I’m in a new fight — for you — as I step in to defend our families, future, and freedom here at home as your next Lieutenant Governor of Georgia.”

Clark’s other priorities include eliminating the state income tax, keeping foreign influence out of the state —particularly from China — strengthening parental rights in education, and cracking down on illicit drug trafficking and crime.

Several Republicans are running to replace current Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, who is running for Governor.

Candidates include Senate Majority Leader Steve Gooch, and state Sens. John Kennedy, Blake Tillery. State Sen. Greg Dolezal is also reportedly mulling a run, while Democratic Sen. Josh McLaurin has officially announced he will be running, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Republicans Brenda Nelson-Porter, and Jerry Timbs are also running.

The General Election is November 3, 2026.
