Brian Kemp spotlights initiatives that drive Georgia’s talent pipeline

September will be recognized as Workforce Development Month in the Peach State, Republican Gov. Brian Kemp announced Tuesday.

The month will celebrate the critical roles of education, training, and talent development in keeping the state competitive and prosperous.

During his time in office, Kemp has worked to strengthen Georgia’s workforce through various programs and policies, including the Georgia MATCH program that connects students with postsecondary education and career opportunities.

“Again and again, job creators cite Georgia’s workforce as a major reason why they choose to invest, operate, and grow in our state,” Kemp said in a press release. “To ensure our students are ready to fill the unprecedented levels of new opportunities coming our way thanks to Georgia’s record-breaking economic development wins, we’re again bringing together public and private sector leaders to better align our workforce pipeline. Together, we’ll build on the milestone successes of prior years, like Georgia MATCH, and strengthen high-demand career positioning.”

The announcement builds on the Top State for Talent initiative launched in 2024 and will complement the third annual Governor’s Workforce Summit October 20-21 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

That also includes the Unified High Demand Career Initiative and expanded apprenticeships, which enhance the state’s talent pipeline, supporting business growth and attracting investment. The goal is to position Georgia as a top state to do business, according to Kemp’s office.

The Top State for Talent Initiative uses the efforts of multiple agencies to prepare Georgia citizens for future careers, aligning Georgia’s talent pipeline to ensure opportunities are available all the way through high school, technical college, and university.

The annual Summit focuses on education, training, and economic development priorities to strengthen Georgia’s workforce. That includes presentations that spotlight innovative workforce strategies and success stories from across the state, bringing together educators, industry innovators, government leaders, and community stakeholders.
