Alabama GOP moves Ron DeSantis-headlined Winter Dinner to larger venue to meet demand

The Alabama Republican Party is changing venues for its upcoming Winter Dinner, which features Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, to accommodate higher than expected demand for tickets.

The March 9 dinner was originally planned for the Birmingham Sheraton Hotel, but is being relocated to the nearby Finley Center in Hoover to provide additional space.

The GOP decided to move to a larger venue after ticket sales exceeded expectations and sales had to be put on hold due to reached capacity. With the venue change, ticket sales have now resumed.

“We have been blown away by the response we’ve received since announcing this year’s Winter Dinner, and I am extremely excited we have been able to find a way to include more guests for this historic event,” Alabama Republican Party Chair John Wahl said. “We want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to hear Governor DeSantis’s common sense conservative message and be a part of his visit to Alabama.”

DeSantis not only heads Alabama’s neighbor to the south, he’s also considered a top-tier potential contender for the GOP nomination for President in 2024.

Tickets to the Alabama event where he will speak are available on a first come, first serve basis. Interested attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets quickly as, even with a larger venue, space may fill up. Tickets can be purchased on the Alabama GOP website.

“The Alabama Republican Party would like to thank Hoover city leaders and staff for their assistance in making this transition possible. We also would like to thank the Birmingham Sheraton for their assistance. We look forward to joining them for other events in the future,” Wahl said of the venue change.
